“Welcome to the Army Mrs. Moore!”

Dexter wasn’t kidding when he smacked my rear end with the saber and welcomed me to the Army. After you get married, you are suddenly swept into the wonderful world of the Army. Here’s what’s been happening so far:

After making a trip to Fort Leavenworth, KS to get my military ID, insurance, and enrollment into DEERS, JD and I have finally made it down to Fort Knox for BOLC. We tried to get checked into a BOQ (Basic Officers Quarters); however, they were out of room for not just us, but quite a few other soldiers. So, we are staying at a hotel about 20 minutes from post. According to the staff, we only have to be in this hotel room until August 21. Unfortunately, this means we are stranded with just a fridge and a microwave…yikes! It’s like living in the dorms all over again, except I have to share the bed and the covers.

Here’s the “glass half full” of being in a hotel for a month: free continental breakfast every morning (this hotel has a hot one too–biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, toast, coffee…score!), HBO, and the pool! What’s better than grabbing a good book and tanning by the pool? 😉
